I graduated from secondary school in 2004 and achieved 7/8 CXC O’levels. My mom couldn’t afford to send me to college, because she was financially constrained since my dad died in 2003. I received assistance to attend college, but for some reason I just couldn’t survive and as a result I spent 1 month and then dropped out. As I sat home at that time, I started to ponder what should I do with my life, knowing that I’m waking up every morning with no job and no sense of direction.
In 2005, I applied to university and got accepted. I started off with Business Studies as my major. As part of the curriculum I had to take Micro-Economics class. At the end of the semester I failed Economics, I re-did the course and failed it the other semester …………….and that time I was wondering if I should drop out again, cause this was not working for me.

We then had to select a specialized area for our major, so I had to choose whether I wanted to do Marketing, Management, Economics and Finance etc. I challenged myself to select Economics and Finance as my major because I saw my failure as fuel to be successful. On my 3rd sitting at Econ class, I was able to pass my exam and got a 4.0 that semester. This had boostered me to push harder. I taught Micro-Econ at DES from since then and persons who showed up to my classes can testify that I did a great job.

Despite many other obstacles, in 2011 I was able to earn my B.Sc in Economics and Finance, received an A in Econ at the Masters level and now I am at it again in my CFA.
My message to persons out there, Failure is not an OPTION, what matter is how you fix the pieces.

I am Nicole Cambridge MBA-IB,B.Sc, I am from Baillies Bacolet St Davids and #iamgrenadian
