Grenadian Pastor

Jamie Gordon

Transitions in life”- From time immemorial I wanted to be in the field of business and finance. As a child in primary school I started my hustle, importing confectionery from Trinidad and selling it to my classmates; in GBSS I made dollar juice bags and also sold it to my classmates. In college I excelled in Accounting and Business management earning me a place in the school’s newsletter.
Suddenly but gradually a new sense of purpose dawned on me as the insatiable appetite for the secular business faded and was replaced by a call to my Father’s business- a call to ministry.
It was a trying period for me to give up what I knew and felt for all my life and plunge into the unknown. I faced skeptics and personal insecurities but I made it by God’s grace. One of the hardest blows of pessimism if faced came from a primary school friend who told me, “I wasted my potential by going and study the Bible.” But I rebut “There is nothing more calculated to strengthen the intellect than a study of the Bible. No other book is so potent to elevate the thoughts, to give vigor to the faculties, as the broad, ennobling truths of the Bible. If God’s Word were studied as it should be, men would have a breath of mind, a nobility of character that is rarely seen in these times.” Ellen White

As a full time pastor currently supervising five churches God has expanded my Horizons, took me places I never dreamt of and has blessed me with a beautiful wife. Knowing that I am fulfilling my call, satisfaction is surely guaranteed.

Have you faced transitions in life? Walk by faith and not by sight. In the words of Ray Davis “A challenge only becomes an obstacle when you bow to it.”
Today as I write this piece I’m in Canada completing a week of prayer. As one of my favorite author says “Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God’s ideal for His children.” Ellen White.
